Waze is launching a soccer-themed driving experience ahead of the 2022 World Cup

It’s been nearly a month since Waze launched a Halloween-themed browsing experience, which means it’s time for a new one. Unlike previous browsing experiences Waze has offered, the latest one focuses on a very popular sport and a rare event that happens once every four years.

Inspired by the styles of football commentators around the world, Waze’s new browsing experience arrives just in time for the 2022 World Cup to kick off at the end of the month. The football community’s biggest event, Qatar is hosting this year’s World Cup and it starts on November 20.

For the first time since Waze decided to bring users new in-car experiences every month, the company is offering drivers around the world an additional way to stay in touch with soccer action and represent their favorite team and country.

The voice navigation system included in this in-car experience revolves around football commentary. In fact, Waze went so far as to give the floor to Luva de Pedreiro, one of Brazil’s fan favorites and the most followed football commentator on social media.

This means that Brazilian users will be able to “drive with Luva de Pedreiro”, while the rest of the world can simply choose to “drive with suspension”. Additionally, Waze drivers can choose to access the Luva Experience or the Commentator Experience (in English, French, and Spanish), no matter where they live.

Once activated, the new experience inside the football-themed car will start giving you prompts like “Take the first exit. Then it’s glory” and “Hazard has signaled his arrival. Getting past that defense can be tough.” I have to admit they are all very funny and the new in-car experience might just become my all-time favorite.

In addition, you can change the icon of your car to look like Automoball, a car equipped for football fans, and change the mood to one that represents your favorite country.

To start using it, tap My Waze in the Android app and select the “Drive with Commentator” banner.
