The next generation update for The Witcher 3 will be available from December

The long-awaited next-gen version of The Witcher 3 has a date: the update will be available from December 14.

This was reported by CD Projekt Red themselves, with a note on their website. For now, only the update features have been revealed. To see the next-gen versions in action, we’ll have to wait for next week.

According to the Polish company, the update will include dozens of visual, performance and technical improvements. Among those, one of the most anticipated is support for ray tracing. Other points of interest are the significant reduction in loading times on consoles and the incorporation of a large number of mods.

In addition to technical improvements, it is planned A series of additional content based on the Netflix series dedicated to The Witcherwhich will give Geralt of Rivia new weapons and armor as well as change the appearance of some supporting characters.

The update is free for all users who already own any version of the game: Even on PC, the game will update automatically, replacing the old version. Those who do not have the game will be offered for sale, initially only in digital format, Special Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X| S and PC. A physical copy should also arrive in the coming months. Both versions will include the previous expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

However, CD Projekt Red has not forgotten the users of the previous generation of consoles: coinciding with the launch of the next generation version, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch users will also receive a substantial update. There is talk of several updates and improvements and additional Netflix themed content will be coming to these consoles.
