Ronaldo holder for his fifth World Cup (live at 5pm)


Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will start its World Cup this Thursday against Ghana. Holder at the forefront of the attack, Ronaldo can become the first player in World Cup history to record at least one goal in five different editions of the planetary tournament, having scored a goal in 2006, one in 2010 and one in 2014 and four in 2018.

Behind Ronaldo, coach Fernando Santos favored Atlético Madrid winger Joao Felix, without Leao’s services before the start of the game. In defence, Pepe has not fully recovered from a left knee injury and is replaced by Paris SG central defender Danilo. In the end, Raphaël Guerreiro was preferred to another Paris SG player, Nuno Mendes, who remained in care at the start of the week.

On the Ghanaian side, André Ayew will be the captain and together with Inaki Williams form the attacking duo against Portugal.
