OnePlus 10T official: top-notch processor and lower price

As expected, OnePlus presented its new smartphone to cap off 2022: OnePlus 10T. Cheaper than its predecessor, the OnePlus 10 Pro, it focuses on the essentials, which signals a complete change of course in the company’s strategy.

Incredible power

One of the major drawbacks was the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor of the OnePlus 10 Pro as it caused the phone to get a bit hot during heavy use. OnePlus 10T solves this problem by switching to the new one Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, the chip is more precisely etched, and therefore with better power efficiency (30% according to Qualcomm). Its GPU is also improved with 10% higher clock speed and lower consumption even with the same performance.

To this, OnePlus adds an improvement to its cooling system. It consists of a large vapor chamber with eight dissipation channels and uses “3D graphite” and copper foil to deliver the best possible performance without affecting the thickness of the phone.

As usual, the brand also used i The best memory components available for the OnePlus 10T: 128 to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, 8 to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

For those who like to play, OnePlus has thought of placing antennas around the OnePlus 10T to avoid blocking waves by holding the smartphone in landscape format.

Improved reloading

Another aspect that gains efficiency is fast charging. From 80W recharging on the 10 Pro model, we go up to 150W on the OnePlus 10T. this means Go from 0 to 100% in just 19 minutes for its 4800mAh battery. Here we find Oppo’s SuperVooc technology that separates charging on two batteries at the same time, with a capacity of 75W each.

A healthy dose of AI also comes in to take care of the wear side. Multiple sensors in the phone and charger allow you to precisely adjust the charging speed based on the temperature of each item. This allows, for example, to warm up the battery in very cold weather to improve charging, or to reduce power during gaming sessions to avoid overheating. It also charges slower at night if you’re in the habit of charging your phone every night to conserve your battery for longer.

Thanks to this, OnePlus ensures that the battery retains 80% of its efficiency after 1,600 charge cycles, or about 4 years on a daily charge.

Other top notch features

OnePlus 10T clearly retains the characteristics of a high-end smartphone. We find 5G, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6 (but not 6E), NFC, and so on.

Its 6.7-inch screen loses some definition as it’s been limited to Full-HD+ (1080p) resolution, while the 10 Pro goes up to WQHD+ (1440p). Not necessarily visible difference. The refresh rate also rises to 120 Hz, but it only adjusts to 3 values: 60, 90 and 120 Hz, which offers less nuance than the previous model.

From an aesthetic point of view, we notice a flat board, not curved at the edges.

Less focus on photos

In the photo, the OnePlus 10T gives way. The model is equipped with three sensors on the back, only two of which are useful and, of course, one on the front, now centered:

  • wide angle: Sony IMX766 50 MP, 1 µm, 7P lens with OIS and f/1.8 aperture
  • Ultra wide angle: 8 MP, 1142 µm, 120° field of view and f/2.2 aperture
  • Macros: 2 megapixels
  • front camera: 16 MP, 1 µm, f/2.4

Quality gets lost in the ultra-wide angle and the telephoto lens gives way to a photographic unit that is probably more of a business solution. It also ends the partnership with Hasselblad, even if the contribution of the latter is not particularly clear. However, OnePlus claims to have refined its algorithms to get better results in HDR and at night in particular.

We also stand out Absence of a slider alert, an iconic element of the brand that disappears here to make more room for the rest of the ingredients. This allows you to quickly switch between ringer modes (vibrate or silent).
