Neabot NoMo Q11 hands-on: A balanced $300 robot vacuum and mop

The Neabot NoMo Q11 in a nutshell

Despite its view of the future, the Neabot NoMo Q11 has been on sale for almost a year. First launched for $699 after a crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo, it’s now being sold on Amazon for a slightly more reasonable price of $399.99.

And for Black Friday 2022, this vacuuming and mopping robot is on sale until November 28 for 339.99 euros. At this price point, the Neabot NoMo Q11 is clearly more relevant given its solid performance.

Neabot NoMo Q11 – Design and Finish

The Neabot NoMo Q11 is a visual hit. The docking station already makes a strong impression with its organic lines. The robot vacuum itself doesn’t have the classic laser turret on top, making it flatter than its competitors and easier to slide under your beds and couches.

The Roibot vacuum cleaner has a very compact form factor of 35 x 35 x 8.7 cm. Ditto for the 40 x 27 x 32 cm docking and cleaning station. The finish of the white plastic NoMo Q11 is sleek and the Chinese manufacturer Neabot has also thought of spare parts such as a dust bag, a Hepa filter, a side brush and an extra mop in the box.

At the front we see the bumper and a large window of tinted acrylic glass behind which the LiDAR sensor is located. At the back you can remove the dust container and the 2-in-1 water tank. The volume is 300 ml for water and 250 ml for dust. The mop is placed underneath and you can adjust the humidity.

On top of the NoMo Q11, on a small island, there are two buttons for start/stop and return to dock. A blue light bar hangs around this island that indicates whether there are obstacles on the one hand and whether charging is active on the other. Here too, the app offers a setting to turn off the LED light.

The charging station has a self-cleaning function. The dust that the robot deposits in the docking station on arrival then ends up in a dust container at the top and you should easily last a month without having to empty it. Strangely, the lid is not attached to a hinge, but can be removed quite easily.

The Neabot NoMo Q11 is equipped with a 5200 mAh battery that fully charges in 360 minutes and then provides a suction time of 120 minutes. The maximum suction power is 4000 Pa. In terms of noise level, the Neabot NoMo Q11 is in the middle with 65 dB.

Suction and washing performance

What is the Neabot NoMo Q11 capable of? The initial setup is very simple. Just download the free “Neakasa” application, press and hold the two keys on the top of the robot for 5 seconds, and the connection to the smartphone and the Wi-Fi network is established.

The robot vacuum cleaner will then start circling around the house. We immediately noticed that the dToF (direct Time of Flight) laser has a very correct detection range. The NoMo Q11 is claimed to be able to clear obstacles up to 1.8cm high. It’s quite a bit and logically never managed to get into my bathroom (threshold 5cm high) but it almost mapped it all out.

One more thing, my room was mapped as one room with the hallway and cannot be split into two rooms despite the option available in the app.

But the navigation proved to be very efficient and reliable overall. In addition to the four fall sensors, the Q11 also offers a 3D obstacle detection function. It recognizes shoes and other objects lying on the floor without errors. But during my test, the Neabot NoMo Q11 still swallowed one of my socks.

There is also a kind of carpet and carpet detection function that boosts the suction power to the maximum level. On my carpet, the robot vacuum cleaner increases its suction power to a maximum of 4000 Pa. However, I would find this feature much more useful on hard floors.

Although the mopping function is advertised as active, the manufacturer does not mean by this that it depends on two rotating mops, as on the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Turbo recently tested by my colleague Stefan. The Neabot NoMo Q11 just drags the mop across the floor, pulling it as it moves, so there’s no active rubbing. It is therefore not very effective for stubborn stains.

And since we are talking about rags, it is worth mentioning one more flaw. Conclusion

For its price of around 300 euros, the Neabot NoMo Q11 is an efficient and well-balanced robot vacuum cleaner. It can vacuum, sweep and mop and is equipped with a suction station that also looks nice. In addition, thanks to the dToF laser integrated into the robot and not on it, it can also clean where other vacuum cleaning robots cannot reach.

3D obstacle detection helps the Q11 navigate your home safely, and during my test it always found its way to the charging station.

The application offers many setting options, even if the initial configuration takes a lot of time. According to the description, there should also be voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. However, there is no mention of this in the supplied manual. We’ll address this issue later in our full test.

As for the suction power, we can say that it is satisfactory on the carpet. The results are significantly better on hard floors. Even though the mopping function is always good to have with you, Neabot doesn’t score points on this point in my opinion. As a robot vacuum cleaner, the Neabot NoMo Q11 with 300 euros is best recommended. As a robot vacuum AND mop a little less.
