Guardians of the Galaxy, this is why this superhero never appears in the movies

The MCU has many superheroes, but we can say that Guardians of the Galaxy stand out. The super space team can boast of winning the audience’s hearts from the first part of their misadventures. It must be said that the team is really great with Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot, Rocket, not forgetting Mantis, Nebula or Yondu. Some fans, however, lament the lack novaa superhero who evolves alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics.

Nova – Marvel Credits

Well, while appearing on the Phase Zero podcast (via Screen Rant), James Gunn They explained why they decided not to put Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Who is Nova?

Richard Ryder is a human from New York whose ordinary life is changed when the last survivor of the planet Xander leaves him with his supernatural powers before dying. Then it becomes nova, a superhero with superhuman strength and super-dimensional strength. His powers give him many unusual abilities, such as faster-than-light flight/travel and firing devastating bursts of energy. Suffice it to say that the character is truly formidable!

One person is enough

Unfortunately, it is precisely because of his awesome strength that Nova has been left out of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. James Gunn He also made it clear that he only wanted one human on the super space team: “I never really got Richard Ryder into anything. He’s a very big character and he also seemed… I didn’t want to… From the very beginning, when I came aboard the Guardians, I didn’t want to have two people. I wanted to have one human. To be surrounded by this strange world.”

However, we didn’t lose anything novabecause earlier this year, Marvel Studios announced a project about the superhero without specifying whether it would be a movie or a series.

waiting to know more, Guardians of the Galaxy I’m meeting you November 25th on Disney+ for a Christmas TV special (with Kevin Bacon!). Then the Space Super Team returns for the third and final installment in their solo adventures, which hits theaters May 5, 2023.
