Five years in prison for a rape in Mons… But the rapist was absent at the trial

On October 4, 2021, the victim, in a state of shock, took refuge in her neighbour’s house, announcing that she had been raped by a man whom she had invited to spend the evening at her house.

While this man was drinking, the victim offered to sleep on his couch. But during the night the man appeared in his room. He was naked and demanding sex. When she refused, the man forced her to do so, causing bruises on her arms.

The defendant was arrested by the police and questioned the facts, declaring that this woman did not attract him because, according to him, she was “over fifty years of age and disabled.” However, a male genetic imprint was found on the victim’s underwear.

The accused was at large

The accused did not attend the trial and was thus convicted in absentia. He has thirty days to object or appeal the ruling.
