Andor, season 2 could be out sooner than expected if…

Not only the MCU is a hit on Disney +. Another great franchise is also a delight for subscribers to the streaming service. We’re talking, of course, about Star Wars, whose latest series is making a lot of noise: Andora prequel to the movie Rogue One.

Still starring Diego Luna, Andor is set five years before the events narrated in the 2016 film. We follow Cassian Andor as he joins the Resistance and infiltrates the Galactic Empire as a spy. The series tells the beginning of the Rebel Alliance.

Airing September 21 on Disney+, Andor received critical acclaim from the public, as well as from the media. It’s no surprise that the show has been renewed for a second season that fans are already looking forward to… even if it’s not for tomorrow. However, Tony Gilroy, the series’ showrunner, is teasing that season 2 of Andor could arrive much sooner than expected. However, he indicates that this can only be done on one condition.

A bigger budget

Following the same production process as season 1, the second season ofAndor should be released on Disney+ in two years. And again, this is an optimistic forecast! However, the hope of finding the series much sooner remains. Tony Gilroy believes it would be enough for the production to allocate an even bigger budget to filming Season 2.

Indeed, as the showrunner explained in a recent interview with Collider magazine: ” […] there should be some serious motivation next May or June or something like that. Someone should say, “Wow, we really need this and we’re willing to pay X.” Rogue One has proven that if you put money in it, you can release it very, very quickly. It’s just very, very, very expensive. » Fans are crossing their fingers for Disney to pull the purse strings!

Season 2 will be the last

With Andorra, Disney+ does not intend to make a long series of several seasons. The second season will indeed be the last for the intergalactic show. Unsurprisingly, the finale leads straight into the Rogue One movie. We also know that season 2 ofAndor will consist of 12 episodes, just like the first season, the last episode of which will be released this week on Disney+!
